"Mudder is in the MONSTER rock vein, and boy, are they a shot in the arm," begins HITS Magazine reviewer Jimmy Barnes in a recent issue. "The overall vibe is heavy as a tank and fires just as hard." Now for the punch line, this monster rock sound does not hail from the thriving East Coast hardcore scene, nor does it come from the explosive West Coast movement. The treacherous tank called Mudder is rolling out of Des Moines, Iowa, representing the Midwest.Mudder was formed in 1996 under the name 35 Inch Mudder. Mudder dropped the 35 Inch tag from their name due to the dozens of bands surfacing in today's new metal genre using numbers in their names. Mudder has toured all over the Midwest, hitting all the major cities including: Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City & Omaha. Mudder has also played with many National acts including: Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Snot, Incubus, System of a Down, Static-X, Orgy, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Megadeth, Machine Head, Anthrax, Motley Crue, The Urge, Full Devil Jacket, and most recently, Papa Roach, Taproot, Staind, Primer 55, Step Kings and Disturbed. In November of 1998, Mudder released "Stained," a 6 song EP, featuring "Full Scale War." They recorded the EP at S R Audio in Des Moines, with accomplished producer Sean McMahon (Slipknot). Since then, Mudder has sold over 6,000 copies of "Stained," and has recieved Nationwide air play with the help of The Syndicate. "Full Scale War," reached as high as #9 on FMQB's Metal Detector in the summer of 1999. After showcasing in New York and L.A., Mudder is currently writing and rehearsing new songs. They're preparing to go back into the studio to work with producer McMahon again. Look for a new Mudder CD to arrive in Early 2001.
