Toxic Field Mice Bio

FORMED: Late 1991 when bassist Fred Descy joined a line-up that included guitarist Michael Torneo, vocalist/guitarist Michael Griswold, and drummer Michael Bay. Due to the confusion caused by 3/4 of the band named Michael, we only respond to others if last names are used.

CLASSIFICATION: Although placed into the "hardcore" niche of the local music scene, our music is generally regarded as more accessible than other bands in the genre. We have developed a following that includes people from all types of musical inclinations.

AWARDS & DISTINCTIONS: Voted "Best Hardcore","Best Thrash" and "Best Heavy Alternative" for seven consecutive years in the Hartford Advocate's "Grand Band Slam" Readers' Poll. Appeared on WHCN's (105.9 fm) "Next Big Thing", WMRQ's (104.1) "Locals Only" and WCCC's (106.9) "Steven Wayne's show" radio shows that promote up and coming local talent, as well as in-studio appearances at college radio stations including WNHU, New Haven, WQAQ, Hamden, and WFCS, New Britain, Connecticut.

NATIONAL ACTS: Played on numerous bills with national acts including Type O' Negative, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Clutch, Overkill, Dandelion, Nuclear Assault, Sick of it All, Mind Bomb, Life of Agony, Shootyz Groove, Surgery, Tree, Staind, Godsmack and Murphy's Law.

GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS: We want to quit our day jobs, sleep in a recording studio, travel the country in a blue van with a trailer, be able to buy our own tapes in record stores in Utah, gig regularly, have someone carry our equipment, and maybe get some groupies. ( In other words......we hope to get signed to a label that can market our music to a wider, more diverse audience than typically afforded to most "hardcore" bands.
