Place Of Skulls is an American doom metal band that was formed in the spring of 2000 by Victor Griffin, a former member of the legendary Pentagram. He had broken away from drug use and the shock of the death of family members and was now a newly born Christian. He was joined by several members well-known to fans of the doom metal genre. They recorded a three track demo which secured them a deal with Man's Ruin Records. Man's Ruin went out of business and their debut album was instead released on Southern Lord Recordings, run by Stephen O'Malley of Khanate. In August 2004 they parted with drummer Tim Tomaselli. In early January 2005 it was announced that the band had split up. The group's final show will take place on February 18 at The Pilot Light in their hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. In March the same year they reunited again. In May 2005 a new deal was signed with Exile On Mainstream Records.
