The 2002 release of Insomnium's debut album, In the Halls of Awaiting, caught most off-guard. In many ways, it can be looked upon as a "sleeper" album, with sales continuing to build to the current day. With the release of the band's second album, Since the Day All Came Down, the growing profile and interest in this still relatively young Finnish band should find them reaching to the next stage in their continuing development.
"In The Halls Of Awaiting is an impressive accomplishment, incorporating depression, self-deprecation and dark melody into a package worthy of your time," said Digital Metal of the melodic death metal band's initial offerings. With early In Flames, Amorphis, Opeth and the more organic sounds of Children of Bodom as a drawing comparison, the four-piece craft a sound that is familar yet truly their own. "Stirring groovy, riff-mad melodic metal," says Brave Words. "From start to finish, In the Halls of Waiting is a solid example of how emotionally powerful music can be," says Ink 19.

Since the Day All Came Down contains the same solid songwriting, impeccable musicianship and inventiveness that made In the Halls of Awaiting a success but with expanding concepts and lyrical adventures. The album finds the band truly coming into their own with a maturity that continues to be well beyond their years. Formed in 1997, Insomnium are based in the eastern-most region of Finland. The band would record two demos before signing to Candlelight in 2001 - both receiving "demo of the month" honors from Terrorizer. The band's US fanbase continues to grow, including a healthy support network at college/loud rock radio which will no doubt embrace Since the Day All Came Down. A great band and interesting career to watch...
