Mercyful Fate were one of the forefathers of occult metal. Their enduring legacy has been cemented with their recurring homages to the dark side. Vocalist Kim Petersen aka King Diamond launched a fairly successful solo career, but is best known for fronting this outfit, which is highly regarded by black metal enthusiasts.
