Take two brothers from Russia and two friends from L.A. with Bengali backgrounds. Add some inspiration from Nirvana and Tool...The result would be SLANT...the Los Angeles based quartet known for their intricate, melodic sound. SLANT is Fahim Zaman (vocals, guitar), Munir Hauqe (guitar), Ilya Karpman (bass), and Andrew Karpman (drums).

The diverse background of SLANT's members and their strong influences from their respective countries is the spark that lights this audible flame. Fahim and Munir were both born in LA and raised in Bengali households. Brothers, Ilya and Andrew moved to the U.S. in 1996. Ilya's path led him to join the Marines for a stint before joining the established band in 2002 to complete the ensemble.

SLANT just recently completed recording their debut album, "A Thin Line." The album was released on Gotham Records on July 12, 2005. This album captures all this quartet has to offer from hard-hitting tracks, such as 'Surrender' and 'Insight' to the emotional and creative sounds of 'Ambition' and 'Broken Wings.'

SLANT's live show is something worth witnessing. Their ability to draw an intimate bridge between the stage and the audience has created a national following that continues to grow.
