Among the most bludgeoning bands spawned from the interstitial areas where savage thrash and vile death meet are Germany's DEW-SCENTED. In reverence to the music they were raised on and capturing the killing frenzy of their predecessors, DEW-SCENTED play with enough pile-driving ferocity to engage the shortest attention span. Every self-respecting thrasher need only grab Issue VI to be initiated into the band's pain-and-retribution-filled world within seconds. A release from the habituation to everyday existence, DEW-SCENTED are known accomplices to acts of rage committed by adrenaline addicts around the world. There's no need to wonder why the floor you walk on is incessantly tainted crimson… the answer sits in your very hands. Not simply a musical riot of spilled blood and broken bones, Issue VI is a long stare into the future of the New School of Thrash - a whole new generation of harder, louder, and faster extreme metal destined for grander purposes.

For the death influenced thrash band that formed in Northern Germany in 1992, adopting the name DEW-SCENTED was a deliberate effort to be enigmatic and mysterious. Granted, a seemingly "delicate" name for such devoted practitioners of The Extreme Arts seemed a bit risky, but if people did not know what the name meant, then they wouldn't know what to expect; therefore, with no external expectations, the scope of the band's musical possibilities could be limitless. (For the infinitely curious, the name was derived from the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.) Releasing six songs as the Symbolization demo in the winter of 1993/1994, DEW-SCENTED secured a record deal with Steamhammer Records/SPV and released Immortelle in February 1996. Tours with Overkill, Edge Of Sanity, Morbid Angel, and Arch Enemy followed, as did the reputation of their live performances. The toll of touring forced a few line-up changes, but ultimately led the band to evolve into a more solid unit. Channeling new focus into their second album and under the seasoned production ear of Dan Swanö (Opeth, Katatonia, Dissection), Innoscent was released by fledgling label Grind Syndicate Media (GSM) in the summer of 1998. DEW-SCENTED were soon sharing stages with Death, Dismember, Eucharist, Night In Gales, and with Deicide / Six Feet Under / Amon Amarth / Naglfar / Brutal Truth at the Summer Clash festival tour.

Amidst all the shows - including a performance at Germany's famed Waken Open Air festival - DEW-SCENTED managed to complete a new album with no formal time off. Their third offering, Ill-Natured, was released by GSM in the summer of 1999. An avalanche of savage freneticism, Ill-Natured honed their approach to the death metal tinged thrash that would become DEW-SCENTED's signature sound. With another album to support, the band hit the road again playing festivals and various shows with the likes of Immortal, Vader, and Cryptopsy, toured Europe with Overkill & Annihilator, and crowned their Ill-Natured campaign off with a Japanese tour alongside Defleshed and Night In Gales.

Armed with a steady line-up, DEW-SCENTED entered Stage One Studios with producer Andy Classen (Rotting Christ, Krisiun, Asphyx) in mid-2001 to record Inwards, which would soon go on to garnish several "Album Of The Month" awards in numerous magazines around the world. Providing a springboard to greater exposure and recognition, DEW-SCENTED attracted the songwriting and guitar talents of Hendrik Bache, who joined the band in time for a round of ceaseless touring - through Europe supporting Cannibal Corpse, in the U.K. with Vader, a neck-breaking, multi-country excursion with thrash icons Kreator, Destruction, & Sodom, and festival appearances at With Full Force, Summer Rocks, Party-San, and Metalfest Vienna, including their North American debut at the Milwaukee Metalfest. The common thread throughout their live performances were the consistent and undeniably positive reactions of the audiences, which signaled and predicted DEW-SCENTED's rise to prominence.

Intent to capitalize on a thriving collaboration, DEW-SCENTED returned to Stage One Studios to work on their fifth studio album with Andy Classen. The aptly titled Impact not only showcased a thicker and richer guitar tone, but also managed to capture a genuine representation of the band's live sound, which was unleashed throughout Europe with Destruction and Deicide on the X-Mass Festival and at the Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze festivals. DEW-SCENTED's arresting technical prowess led Alternative Press to proclaim, "A pile-driving, precision-cut new-school thrash band as awe-inspiring as a perfectly executed gymnastics routine - and way more manly!"

With Issue VI, DEW-SCENTED have obviously upped the riff ante and Andy Classen obviously made full use of his production talents at Stage One Studios. A caustic dose of thrash-fueled and eruptive death-driven fury - which gains momentum and velocity with the opening blast beat - DEW-SCENTED's sound is one where Müeller and Bache's searing dual guitar attack sonically embeds itself into your flesh with barbed wire; where Pahl's devastating rhythms and Werning's train-wreck double-bass drums are simply uncompromising; and the gruff yet accessible vocal talents of Leif Jensen pronounce his ability to wretch his innards out again and again without so much as flinching. "Processing Life" offers frantic and refined execution, "Turn To Ash" is an I.V. tube of panic and liquid decimation, and "Out Of The Self" provides a means by which to trigger a nervous breakdown. A savage lesson in violence, DEW-SCENTED are multiple slashes to the jugular vein with a rusted, jagged edge, in an ritual ceremony bent on recruiting new disciples to serve the insatiable god of adrenaline.
