Darkest Hour is proving that they are one of the most brilliant and distinct bands in the extreme hard rock genre. They are unafraid to use a variety of musical weapons to paint their sordid stories using death/thrash guitar riffing, rumbling bass and ballistic styled percussion. Hailing from the nation's capital, Washington, DC, Darkest Hour brings back memories of the Gothenburg sound of the mid-90s. Over the past six years the band has laid a volatile foundation for their upcoming album "So Sedated, So Secure".

In 1999 Darkest Hour inked a deal with New York based metal label, MIA Records. Quickly after they signed, Darkest Hour released the 9-song album of pure chaos, "The Mark Of The Judas." Their short-lived relationship with MIA records ended abruptly with the demise of the label in early 2000. Victory Records was awakened to the maniacal, destructive power that is Darkest Hour when the band spent a total of 24 hours in their van one Monday in October of 2000. After a show in Rhode Island, Darkest Hour decided to high tail it to Chicago after Victory owner Tony Brummel said he'd like to see the band live. One 20-minute set later, he and other Victory staffers were sold. The band was officially signed two months later after a headlining appearance in Richmond, VA.

Darkest Hour couple Swedish/Euro metal guitar riffing with the raw power and energy of the most aggressive qualities of American hardcore. Darkest Hour¹s head banging opuses mark a new chapter in the continuing evolution of extreme music not heard since the demise of At The Gates in 1996. "So Sedated, So Secure", will thrust you into a world of skull crushing, guitar riffs complemented by frenetic double bass drum blasts so gut wrenching they make you want to rip off your flesh, pounding your limp bloody body into the heaving pavement. All of this pandemonium is brought together by vocalist John Henry's unforgettable throat scraping growls and the band¹s feverish live performances. The ferocious blend of brutal riffs and exorcising screams has an underlying hint of melodic brutality that stays undeniably extreme yet memorably listenable. Conventional power metal song structures ala classic Iron Maiden and Judas Priest constitute a subtle, permeating influence in many of their songs.

"So Sedated, So Secure" will be Darkest Hour's third and most destructive album continuing in their spirit of misery and frustration. July of 2001 will see the dawn of a new era for Darkest Hour, and extreme hard music. The band plans to be on the road non-stop throughout 2001 and 2002. Fasten your seat belts; Darkest Hour is about to tear down everything you thought you knew about metal, hardcore and rock.
