LUPARA was formed in the summer of 2003 by guitarist Jeremy Wagner. Wagner, best known as founder and guitarist for the international death-metal recording act, Broken Hope, decided to put all of his energy into a new project. By the summer of 2003, LUPARA was solid.
The first LUPARA promo-CD was released in 2004. The 2004 promo-CD features the songs: Light Up the Pigs, The Rage, and Rejection. During 2004, LUPARA performed throughout the midwest and continued to write new material.
Since January 2005, LUPARA has performed throughout the U.S. and out of the country. Bands they have performed with (and are scheduled to perform with) include: Otep, American Headcharge, Testament, God Forbid, Nuclear Assault, Agnostic Front, Sodom, Obituary, Full Blown Chaos, and others.
Also, LUPARA are honored to have been chosen as the only unsigned, extreme-metal act from the U.S. to perform at the 2005 Monterrey Metalfest in Nuevo Leon, Mexico with Motorhead, WASP, Hammerfall, Danzig, Jag Panzer, and other notable metal acts. Between the regional shows and festivals, LUPARA will have performed for some 20,000 plus people during the first 6 months of 2005.
The 2005, 3-song promo-CD has now been released and is even more ferocious than the first LUPARA sampler. The 2005 promo-CD features the songs: Discrimination Pours, They Call Me Disease, and The Old Man. Now armed with a unstoppable line-up, a killer live-show, and a die-hard determination to succeed, LUPARA are embarking on a crusade to go as far as possible.
**People always wonder what LUPARA means. Jeremy Wagner, an avid reader and writer of fiction, got the name "lupara" from a few Mario Puzo novels, namely, The Godfather, The Sicilian, and The Last Don. A lupara is a sawed-off, Sicilian shotgun that mafia soldiers carry as one of their primary weapons. A lupara is rumored to be so powerful, it can blow a man in half. A fitting name for a band that explodes with audible ferocity.
