Mennen's upcoming debut UK album, 'Freakazoid', set for release April 4th on Escapi Music, through RSK distribution, bears all the hallmarks of a 'soon-to-be-regarded-as-classic' melodic hard rock album.
Singer and founder Joss Mennen, who in the past has worked as a session musician backing vocalist for bands such as the Scorpions, Danger Danger and Craaft, has stepped up to the spotlight to deliver the performance of his life on 'Freakazoid'.
Mennen are an exuberant Dutch hard rock band who have built a major following in Holland and Belgium, where they have already supported the likes of Dio, Whitesnake, The Scorpions, Thunder and Molly Hatchet.
Commenting on the band's chemistry, Joss Mennen says "I always prefer someone around who triggers and supports me instrumentally, but with Mennen it turned out to be the whole band!"
Mennen spent over two years writing and re-writing 'Freakazoid', determined to come up with a masterpiece. In 2002 the band invested in constructing their own self-contained headquarters, including a studio and storage unit, called 'The Mushroom'. Imbued with a burning desire to come up with classic material, they spent all of 2003 writing and recording demos for 'Freakazoid'. Finally satisfied, Mennen began producing the album themselves in 2004.
Then Joss Mennen hooked up with producer Erwin Musper, who had produced his first band, the metallic act Zinatra, which had tasted success in Europe, South America and Asia in the early 1990's. Musper, who had not seen Joss for ten years, had subsequently worked with the likes of Bon Jovi, Metallica, Van Halen, The Scorpions, Def Leppard and Elton John.
Erwin was so impressed with the early results that he soon agreed to come on board, and booked the world famous Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, Holland, to mix the finished album.
When Escapi Music heard 'Freakazoid', they jumped at the chance to champion this fabulous melodic hard rock band by giving them their first worldwide album release
