Resurrecting the Legacy: Wayne Static's 'Here Is The Truth' Set for Release

By Jason
A long-buried gem from the late Static-X frontman is about to surface, thanks to a dedicated crew of musicians and producers.

In a thrilling turn of events for fans of the late Wayne Static, an unreleased track titled “Here Is The Truth” is set to rise from the ashes, rejuvenated by the musical talents of former Static-X bassist Andy Cole and producer Mikael Johnston. This endeavor was sparked when director Matt Zane unearthed several forgotten recordings while piecing together an unauthorized documentary about Wayne and his beloved wife, Tera Wray.

However, the original recordings were not without their scars; significant sonic degradation meant that restoration was essential to breathe life back into these lost tracks. Enter Johnston, renowned for his deft touch with artists like Static-X and Jane’s Addiction, who stepped in to oversee the restoration process. Zane, ever the zealous steward of Static’s legacy, collaborated closely with Johnston to ensure the authenticity of the material would shine through.

Faced with the daunting task of navigating the murky waters of the original instrumental tracks, the duo opted to recruit a cadre of musicians to re-record the foundational elements while keeping Wayne’s distinct vocals intact. Among those enlisted was none other than Andy Cole, who reflected on his experience, stating, “Touring with Wayne was one of the greatest highlights of my career.” His reverence for Static’s artistry is palpable, and now, he gets to participate in preserving that legacy.

Alongside Cole, Johnston handled guitar duties, with Jon Asher of Society 1 pounding the drums. Together, they’ve painstakingly rebuilt the instrumental landscape around Static’s iconic vocal performance, crafting a track that promises to resonate with both die-hard fans and new listeners alike.

As Zane aptly puts it, “It’s amazing Mikael was able to pull Wayne’s vocals and what he’s been able to do to restore the song.” With a visualizer in the works to accompany the track, once “Here Is The Truth” is completed, it will be made available to fans free of charge, serving as a heartfelt tribute to Static’s indelible mark on the metal scene.

This project not only seeks to resurrect a piece of Wayne Static’s artistic legacy but also stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit of musicians who revered him. Get ready to embrace the truth once more.
