In a recent powerhouse interview with 100.3 The Bear from Edmonton, Alberta, THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Matt Walst dropped some tantalizing hints about the band's forthcoming album, a follow-up to their 2025 release 'Alienation'. The band's plans are to take a breather after this month, but come next year, the writing sessions will commence with fervor, as Walst confirmed, "We've already started getting ideas together and stuff."
'Alienation' marked a monumental reunion with original vocalist Adam Gontier, who joined the ranks of Walst, Neil Sanderson on drums, Brad Walst on bass, and Barry Stock on guitar. This seismic shift in the lineup reignited the flames of nostalgia and excitement among fans, following Gontier's 12-year hiatus from the band.
On February 25, 2025, the band delivered a thunderous performance at the Ford Idaho Center Arena, supporting DISTURBED on their 'Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour'. It marked a glorious return of Gontier, and according to Walst, the chemistry between the two vocalists was instantaneous. "It just felt natural from the get-go," he said, emphasizing the seamless interplay as they traded verses and harmonies.
Gontier himself echoed Walst's sentiments, expressing pure joy at revisiting the hits from his time away. "All the songs that Matt did and the band did when I was away... they're all great, and the albums are amazing," he stated. The camaraderie on stage has only deepened since Gontier's surprise reunion during a concert in Huntsville, Alabama, where they resurrected classic anthems like 'Never Too Late' and 'Riot' from their iconic 2006 album 'One-X'.
Tracing back to their roots, Gontier, alongside his future bandmates, formed GROUNDSWELL in 1992 while still in high school. After a short-lived stint, THREE DAYS GRACE was born in 1997, and the rest is history. Gontier's departure in 2013 was shrouded in mystery, but he has since clarified that his exit was not solely due to health issues but a desire to explore new horizons. Now, with the band back in full force, the metal world can only watch and wait as they gear up for what promises to be an electrifying new chapter.
