BUCKCHERRY Unleashes the Roar: New Tour and Insights from the Frontman
In a recent raw and unfiltered sit-down with Rock 100.5 The KATT FM’s Cameron Buchholtz, BUCKCHERRY's fearsome frontman Josh Todd opened up about the band’s enduring legacy and their unapologetic commitment to old-school rock and roll. For nearly three decades, BUCKCHERRY has carved out their own niche, defying categorization in an ever-evolving musical landscape. “We’ve kind of been on our own island our whole career. It’s 27 years now, 11 records, and who would've thought just being a traditional rock and roll band that we would not fit into any kind of genre of rock at the time?” Todd mused, underscoring their distinctive path.
The frontman reminisced about the music scene when they first stormed onto it, contrasting their gritty sound with the overwhelming trend of rap-rock and the introspective shoegazer era, where artists seemed more interested in their shoes than their audiences. “We came out and we were just different. And we had songs that worked on radio, and voilà, we got to have this great career,” Todd declared, a hint of pride evident in his tone.
Despite being frequently lumped into the '80s rock revival, Todd insists BUCKCHERRY’s evolution allows them to share stages with a wide array of acts, from the legendary SCORPIONS to modern rock giants. “It’s nice. We fit into any kind of package, and we just kind of adjust our set accordingly to whatever fits. And it’s been a lot of fun,” he noted, hinting at the versatility that has kept them relevant through the changing tides of rock.
BUCKCHERRY is set to take the stage yet again in 2026, announcing the final leg of their “Roar Like Thunder” tour, featuring high-voltage shows alongside BLACK STONE CHERRY and Tyler Bryant. Kicking off at the Rockin' The Island festival alongside STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, this tour promises to deliver the kind of energy and nostalgia that only these rock veterans can provide. As they gear up for this extensive run, which includes a much-anticipated stop at the legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip, the band is ready to unleash their raw power on the road.
