Drowning Pool's South American Tour Axed Amidst Ticket Sales Woes
Drowning Pool's much-anticipated South American tour, originally set to launch on May 20 in Bogota, Colombia, has been officially canceled. This unfortunate news comes as a result of dismal ticket sales, a decision made collectively by the local promoters involved in the tour.
In a statement, the tour organizers expressed, "The decision to cancel the trek was not taken lightly, but the low ticket sales across all planned cities left us no choice." Fans who have already purchased tickets are advised to seek refunds directly from the ticketing company in their respective locations. For further assistance regarding the refund process, patrons are encouraged to reach out to the local promoter.
The tour was slated to encompass seven shows, culminating in a performance on May 31 in Curitiba, Brazil, with stops planned in Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Belo Horizonte, Brazil; and São Paulo, Brazil. When the tour was first announced back in March, Drowning Pool had expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "We're super stoked to be playing in South America for the first time!"
Despite the setback, the band has been active, releasing three new singles over the past 18 months: "The Wrong One" (February 2026), "Madness" (April 2025), and "Revolution (The Final Amen)" (September 2024). This last track marked a significant moment as it was the first collaboration with frontman Ryan McCombs after a 13-year hiatus.
McCombs, who made his return to the band in March 2023, previously joined Drowning Pool in 2005 and contributed to albums like "Full Circle" (2007) and "Drowning Pool" (2010). He continues to juggle his commitments with both Drowning Pool and SOIL, the latter of which he also fronts.
With roots tracing back to their platinum-certified debut album "Sinner" in 2001, Drowning Pool has navigated the tumultuous waters of the music industry. Their first single, "Bodies," became a massive hit, but the band faced tragedy in 2002 with the untimely death of vocalist Dave "Stage" Williams.
As fans lament the cancellation of the tour, Drowning Pool remains a testament to resilience in the metal scene, continuing to create and perform despite the challenges.
