"Vortices: A Forward" the new album by VISITORS comes out tomorrow
The band fuses together modern progrock, spacey experimental alternative and progressive melodic hardcore.
Visitors is proud to release their Formant Records debut EP, "Vortices: A Forward." The band fuses together modern progrock, spacey experimental alternative and progressive melodic hardcore, which is showcased on the record.
The concept album touches on the issue of conformity and appropriateness being at the mercy of social evolution/reverse evolution. There is also an underlying theme of bringing attention to mental illness, which is showcased visually in the "Axis B" comic book that accompanies the record. Intertwining these different socially "taboo" topics, Visitors proves they aren't afraid to talk about sensitive subjects and work hard to give their music meaning. The band understands how powerful music can be and uses their creativity as an outlet to get those important conversations started.
"Vortices" is just the beginning of the story for Visitors and gives listeners a glimpse of what the future holds.
Visitors is an heavy, experimental, and progressive rock band based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in late 2012, the band developed a reputation early on in the west coast post-hardcore scene for progressive-yet-accessible songwriting, high energy live performance, and extensive use of guitar effects pedals. Their first major release, “Blueshift†was met with praise from critics and fans alike for its expansive sound design, poignant lyrics, and dark ambience.
The group toured nationally in support of "Blueshift" while writing and producing what would become their new two part concept record. The "Vortices" EP and following full length album (details below) follow a story written and developed into a comic mini-series by the band along with Salt Lake City artist, Alex Cooper.
Both the "Vortices" EP and upcoming full length were recorded at Interlace Audio where it was tracked, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Stephan Hawkes.
Visitors' creative use of signal processing, their unique songwriting, and their high energy/high volume shows frequently draw fans of and comparisons to bands like Eidola, Dillinger Escape Plan, Deftones, O'Brother, Circa Survive, At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta, Glassjaw.
