Moloken: All is Left to See
Dissonant, bent harmonies mark Moloken’s third full-length installment, All is Left to See. With lyrics centered around mörkrets kärna (Swedish for “darkness coreâ€), the new album from the Swedish Post-Hardcore troupe is an abysmal ride through emotionally bleak and eclectic aural densities.
Moloken pairs haunting harmonies and unhinged performances on eight tracks of textural complexity: in deep, breathy calls, guitarists/vocalists Kristoffer Bäckström and Patrik Ylmefors relay a fury of sentiment, as searing riffs and downturned chords create a maelstrom of harrowing moments, appropriated and driven by drummer Jakob Burstedt’s tailored, percussive adornments and bassist Nicklas Bäckström’s prominent bass queues.
The sonic sum is a collection of tracks that also boast moments of pummelingBlack Metal and Grinding Death, infused with a high degree of emotionality that fans of Cult of Luna and Refused will take to with ease. In sum- definitely worth your time.
