Overview: Warcrab, Scars of Aeons

By Red Baron
Tell me, who doesn't like a giant warring crab - Literately a battle ready crab. And who wouldn't like to see one go into battle? This bands great name is as cool as the album. Really Like this one

For a long while, I have been waiting for a record just like this. There's a very particular guttural growl coming off the guitars. Then there is the Berzerker for a vocalist that sounds like a wild bear, clad Viking Armour, gone mad with way too many meads and mushrooms. At times when I am listening to this record, at times I feel compelled to cough up a loogie just listening to this dude. This is a good thing my friends.

The first track titled, "The Conquest", is very punky and dark all at the same time. The chord progressions bounce between a jam band's sliding grooves to a pattern of pounding doom riffage. This pattern is consistent throughout the entire record. I dig it. I have been listening to this one for about a week now. It reminds me so much of my hardcore punk days. I'm talking about the peak time of Danzig, Circle Jerks, GBH, Black Flag and last buy not least the Dead Kennedys.

Do any of you guys out there remember the crossover (hardcore to thrash) classic "Animosity" by Corrosion of Conformity. Now imagine, for me please, the rawness of "Animosity", but with the tempo slowed and the guitars tuned down to "C". Further add some killer musicianship from the entire band. Check out Warcrab's newest release "Scars of Aeons". If you are a doom metal geek as I am, you are sure to enjoy this one.
