PSYCROPTIC Unleashes 'The Pulse Of Annihilation' - A New Era in Technical Death Metal
For over two decades, PSYCROPTIC has stood at the forefront of technical death metal, carving a niche defined by their razor-sharp musicianship and unyielding creative vision. Hailing from Tasmania, these masters of rhythm have built a formidable reputation on intricate compositions and an unwavering refusal to stagnate.
This July 17, PSYCROPTIC embarks on a bold new journey with 'The Pulse Of Annihilation', marking their first full-length release under the esteemed Metal Blade Records banner. This partnership is a strategic move, aligning one of the genre's most technically adept acts with a label that has played a pivotal role in extreme metal's evolution.
At the helm of this new chapter is guitarist and primary songwriter Joe Haley. His compositional evolution has transcended pure technicality, embracing a more architecturally thoughtful approach. On 'The Pulse Of Annihilation', listeners can expect sharper riffs, seamless transitions, and intentional thematic motifs. Haley's seasoned insight into pacing allows for a masterful balance between intensity and restraint, skillfully weaponizing silence amidst relentless arrangements. “'The Pulse Of Annihilation' is the culmination of everything that has come before,” remarks Haley. “We never force anything stylistically and just let the songs manifest of their own accord — maintaining progression while remaining very much PSYCROPTIC. I feel this is our most epic, thrashing, technical yet groovy release yet.”
The album features the ferocious dual-vocal attack of Jason Peppiatt and Jason Keyser (of ORIGIN), a collaboration that initially debuted on PSYCROPTIC's previous effort, 'Divine Council'. The powerful growl of Peppiatt intertwines with Keyser's sharp articulation, creating a dynamic vocal interplay that enhances the band's dense instrumentation. This dual approach elevates the record’s potency, offering layered confrontational elements that are tightly woven into the intricate framework of the music.
