Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction" Shreds its Way into the Grammy Hall of Fame
Guns N' Roses' iconic debut album, "Appetite for Destruction," joined the ranks of legendary recordings on Wednesday (March 20) with its induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame. This year marks the Hall of Fame's 50th anniversary, and "Appetite for Destruction" is among 10 recordings honored for their enduring impact and historical significance.
The diverse group of inductees includes four albums and six singles, all at least 25 years old. A celebratory gala and concert will be held on May 21st, 2024, at the NOVO Theater in Los Angeles. This inaugural event, presented by City National Bank, will be hosted by the Grammy Museum.
"We're thrilled to unveil this rich mix of recordings for the Grammy Hall of Fame's golden anniversary," said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. "The music here has profoundly shaped our culture, and it's an honor to recognize these albums and singles, along with the lasting influence they've had."
"The immense talent and dedication behind these recordings is truly inspiring," said Michael Sticka, president/CEO of the Grammy Museum. "We're privileged to welcome these inductees and celebrate them at our first-ever gala on May 21st."
Guns N' Roses joins a stellar class of 2024 inductees, including Lauryn Hill's "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," DE LA SOUL's groundbreaking work, and the infectious rhythms of Buena Vista Social Club. Recordings by Donna Summer, Charley Pride, Wanda Jackson, and the Doobie Brothers are also enshrined this year, alongside the early jazz sounds of Kid Ory's Creole Orchestra and the soulful stylings of William Bell.
Eligible recipients will be presented with an official certificate by the Recording Academy.
