Spoiler Alert - Revolver Golden Gods Winners
Revolver Golden Gods is held every April in Los Angeles and like the previous three years, The Gauntlet will have it's staff wrecking havoc on the night. Last years live blogging seemed to really upset Revolver editor Brandon Geist too so we know it must have been good.
There is nothing real about the awards show. It is just an event for Revolver to see how many times they can name a certain energy drink or guitar maker to keep them advertising until the following awards show. Like many other awards show, it is fake. The online voting process is rigged and doesn't matter as the winners get decided by VH1 and Revolver. VH1 won't carry a show that is filled with bands that don't carry huge names. So Revolver has to ensure the bands that perform also get awards which makes it really easy to pick the winners. As for the winners, The Gauntlet has been batting 1,000 so let's get to this years winners. They made it a bit more difficult this year by nominating the same bands over and over again. You'd think by looking at the nominees that only a dozen metal bands even exist.
Best Guitarist
Toss up here as both Trivium and Black Veil Brides will be in attendance and performing so they both meet the VH1 requirement of the band has to be present to win. I hate to do it, but gotta go to BVB. Revolver has been showing them a lot of love lately as their readers (teen girls) buy a lot of magazines and Revolver is the next Teen Beat.
Riff Lord
Slash - and he rightfully deserves it.
Best Drummer
Jeremy from 5FDP
Comeback of the Year
Evaneschence, I really didn't know they were gone though....didn't really care either. Slipknot though as they will be there and they gotta get something. Makes no sense.
Best Vocalist
This is the category that makes me say "really?" more than any other. Technically can be Jonathan Davis, Amy Lee and Andy Biersack. This is a tough one...Korn vs. Evanescence vs. Black Veil Brides. I'm going with Evanescence but is too close to call.
Album of the Year
Korn will win.
Best Bassist
Nikki Sixx.
Best International Band
Hrmmm...let me consult my magic 8-ball. Lacuna Coil is performing the night before in Hollywood with two off days. I hear they are staying in LA for the Golden Gods too. Members of Rammstein are also in town gearing up to start the U.S. tour the following week. Sepultura are also in town with an off day, but they won't clench it. X Japan can't be ruled out either. Toss up, just going off gut feeling. I'm gonna go with Lacuna Coil but we all know Rammstein IS the greatest.
Most Dedicated Fans
A7X vs Black Veil Brides...this award is purely to kiss ass of the magazine buying crowd Revolver so desperately needs. BVB is my pick, but Revolver loved them some A7X last year. I'm split.
It amazes me how many metal website love the Golden Clods and think they are a real award. Stay tuned for April 11th for our live, behind the scenes, publicist nightmare blogging. So fun having people inside Revolver on Team Gauntlet.
