Porcupine Tree plots American tour schedule
Veteran prog-rock outfit Porcupine Tree makes another run on American concert venues this fall as the band continues to support its most recent album and gears up for the release of a new EP.
The British group will kick off the headlining run Oct. 3 in Orlando, FL, one of 18 cities the band will visit on the trek, which also includes an Oct. 26 stop at New Orleans' Voodoo Fest as part of a lineup that includes Rage Against The Machine, The Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco and others. Dates are shown below.
A five-minute preview of material from the band's forthcoming new EP, "Nil Recurring," is available at the group's MySpace site. The 4-track EP--which features Robert Fripp of King Crimson playing guitar on the set's title track--is due in stores Sept. 25.
The group will also see its current full-length album, April's "Fear of a Blank Planet," get the deluxe-reissue treatment in October, when vinyl specialists ToneFloat produce a double vinyl edition of the title, including all the tracks from "Nil Recurring" as well as a full-color 16-page liner notes booklet. The deluxe edition will be available through the band's website.
Formed in 1991, Porcupine Tree is led by singer/guitarist Steven Wilson, who also teams with vocalist/lyricist Tim Bowness to record as experimental/progressive duo No-Man.
