Mnemic Issue Studio Update

By jason

MNEMIC guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie has posted the following studio update at the band's MySpace page:

"Hey folks,

Sorry for the lack of updates. We have been once again, nothing but busy in the studio tracking our 33rd album. Now, let's back up a bit, 2.5 weeks ago. Brian (Rasmussen, drums) did a phenomenal job on nailing 13 songs at the Track Record Studio. For the guitars we relocated to a different studio(!) called the David Harvey Building, in downtown LA, and started tracking with Jeremy Blair (he's also worked with GUNS N' ROSES and our beer-boozin-drinkin buddies in DEVILDRIVER).

The first couple of days we experimented with a bunch of different heads and setups, and not to mention, a bunch of different string gauges, because of our new and different tuning. We have been using ESPs, Caparisons and Jackson guitars, to make the sound more diverse in comparison to the last album, where we had just recorded everything on only one guitar. As for the heads we have combined Kranks, Diesel, Isp and VHTs, again very different from last album. Rune (Stigart - guitar) did most of the work on the rythm section, nailed everything pretty quickly, and I chipped in with some of the stuff I play better and vice versa. We did melodies and used a lot of different pedals. This is the first time I used a Cry Baby and a Synth Wah, and we've also utilized the Line6 Pod. The guitar sound sounds massive, really crunchy and crispy, just like a good bag of chips. Thanks to Christian (Olde Wolbers - FEAR FACTORY) for that one.

In the meantime Guillaume (Bideau - vocals) started the vocals and FUCKIN HELL is all I can say about that!!! It sounds nothing short of amazing, and granted it will surprise a lot of people! Hell, it surprised me, big time!! It's so damn cliche to say this, but this is going to be the best album we have ever written and sweat for! We have worked so hard for this, we have been super prepared before entering the studio, we took our time in the stinkin' dirty rehearsal and mainly dissected and analyzed every aspect of these songs.

No doubt we are not used to a lot of pre-production, usually we finish the first song of the album (Liquid and Dreamstate, Yes!) the day before we have to enter the studio and then hope for the best.

All in all we are just very eager to put out these freshly baked songs and the new album, with our new international line up! Plus we have a couple of tricks up our sleeves, which we'll launch at the right time! We are very ecstatic about these surprises, 'cause they will definitely explode... Curious, yet?

Tomas (Kofoed) is recording the bass as we speak, and that will definitely leave some bombs on your eardrums.

We'll be back with more updates as we progress with our new monster. Check out some of the new blog pix as well... Thanks for reading this, I hope I haven't bored you into deep sleep.

I'm Out!"
