Testament to play KeyClub Show

KEY CLUB is proud to welcome the original lineup of thrash metal act TESTAMENT, on Weds. July ! 12, 2006. They will be joined by California locals, DECEPTION, CONTORTION and EXHAUST. Originally taking shape as LEGACY, members Steve Souza, Eric Peterson, Derrick Ramirez, Greg Christian and Louie Clemente emerged as one of the first thrash metal bands out of the San Francisco Bay Area in 1983. Shortly thereafter Alex Skolnick replaced Ramirez on guitar as Steve Souza stepped down as lead singer, turning the reigns over to Chuck Billy. Billy's versatile melodic talents and intimidating, trademark "growl" completed the band's lineup. Thus, TESTAMENT was born.

The band's debut album "THE LEGACY" (via MEGAFORCE RECORDS) was an instant classic in thrash metal circles, thanks to its controlled power, precise technical delivery and sheer confidence. Some have said the band came second only to METALLICA on the metal scene, while others argue that LEGACY/TESTAMENT were a major influence on METALLICA in the first place.

TESTAMENT saw much success in the late 80's with the release of their third album, "PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH," a headlining U.S. tour and a considerable amount of attention from MTV. Throughout the 90's TESTAMENT experienced a "revolving door" of sorts when it came to their lineup - members came as quickly as they left. The band did manage to form their own record label, BURNT OFFERINGS, on which they! released 1995's "LIVE AT THE FILMORE" and 1997's "DEMONIC." In March of 2001 TESTAMENT faced additional hardship as vocalist Chuck Billy was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Yet, with a full recovery from Billy and all original members back in place, TESTAMENT is back in full force. Having completed their European tour in 2005, the band will take on select dates in the U.S. including their stop at KEY CLUB on July 12.
