Danish Hardcore heathens Halshug take the snarl and grit of D-Beat and manage to make it all the more harrowing on their new full-length, Blodets BÃ¥nd. The album boasts no frills, no fills, and is fueled by the reckless abandon of punk rock.

Halshug is a relatively new act, formed just about two years ago, but has quickly become popularized for their brand of truant, unapologetic sonic gristle.

The band released a prior EP entitled Dodskontrol, which housed raw, unhinged diatribes; uncouth, searing riffs; and signature D-Beat percussion. Their follow-up full-length, Blodets BÃ¥nd, takes what Halshug crafted on the first EP and carves out a captious, callous, and cutting eight-song album, frayed at the hemline, lawless from start to finish:

Tireless tracks like “Gudsforlat,” “Inferno,” and “Knael” capture the breadth of the band’s K-town punk heritage, calling up sounds reminiscent of Doom, Infernöh, Discharge, and Skitsystem along the way.

Heavy-handed, nearly metallic thrash on “Yderste Rand” marks their breathless pace, as does hollow-call vocals, which echo through the frenzied sonicsphere on “Kvaelende Frygt.”

Blodets Bånd is sweat-seized, rough-cut, and knuckled down with some serious street-cred. The album is slated for release on February 24, 2015 via Southern Lord Records, and you can grab more information on Halshug on the band’s official Website Halshug.BlogSpot.com, the Halshug Facebook.com page at http://www.facebook.com/halshugcph, and via the band’s BandCamp.com page at Halshug.BandCamp.com.
