San Francisco heavy metal act Hatchets For Hands releases new track “Venom Streets.â€
The band conjures traditional elements from European and American heavy music pioneers while creating their own distinct brand of metal
Hatchets For Hands is on fire with writing and recording new music in 2016. “Venom Streets†is now available online and marks the second of multiple new tracks being penned by this Northern California heavy metal duo. The track premiered last Friday via Revolver.com and is available now via online retailers like Spotify and Apple Music.
Recorded in San Francisco, Brian Parks (guitar/bass/vocals) and Cullen Poythress (drums/lead vocals) carefully assembled “Venom Streets†to pick up where their last single “To The Grave†left off. Hatchets keeps the music simple and traditionally heavy with hints of influence across the spectrum of the metal genre. The band once again enlisted Ben O’Neil of Mark Needham Studios to mix the effort, bringing the track to mind-blowing levels. “Venom Streets†and “To The Grave†are two of the many songs planned for their upcoming EP being released in early 2017. Formed in 2009, Hatchets For Hands was quartered in the notoriously violent and crime-ridden streets of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District—providing daily doses of song writing inspiration speaking directly to the social decay and degradation of the inner city.
This proved to be an advantage to create genuine music with lyric al themes that speak to the harsh realities of the city. "Venom Streets takes us back to the origins of playing together in the TL,†says the band. “The gunshots, crime, addiction and overwhelming levels of social disorder we’re all very real and omnipresent there—you always had to watch your back in the streets.â€

Driven by a mutual obsession for authentic musicianship and heavy metal, the band takes cues from many styles within the genre—nodding elements of early American thrash, grind, and traditional death to the soaring leads and infectious melodies akin to Northern Europe's melodic death metal exports.
