Win Dinner With Hawthorne Heights
Norfolk, Va. - Ohio-based Hawthorne Heights and Victory Records have teamed up with peta2-PETA's youth-focused division-to hook some lucky fans up with a chance to have dinner with the band; free concert tickets; a copy of a limited-edition stencil autographed by guitarist Casey Calvert; and a Hawthorne Heights messenger bag filled with T-shirts, CDs, DVDs, and stickers. Visitors to peta2.com and peta2's section of MySpace.com can enter to win through August 15. The peta2 MySpace page will also include a brand-new pro-vegetarian radio public service announcement featuring Casey, exclusive interviews with Casey and drummer Eron Bucciarelli, and photos of the band.
The limited-edition stencil that Casey designed and autographed for the prize pack reads, "peta2 Is for Animal Lovers," a takeoff on the band's hit single "Ohio Is for Lovers." When asked what his legions of fans can do to help them kick the meat habit, Casey, who went vegetarian seven years ago, replies, "I'll say just watch the PETA videos. That's made a few of my friends change their ways. It's pretty disgusting."
Adds Eron, who's equally as disgusted by fur, "I definitely think fur is a stupid, stupid thing. Killing something for fashion is ridiculous. There are much, much cheaper and cooler things you can wear than fur."
This isn't the first time that Hawthorne Heights has teamed up with peta2 to fight animal abuse. The members often take PETA literature on tour with them and have done special autograph signings at the peta2 booth during shows, including this summer's Warped Tour.
Hawthorne Heights joins an ever-growing list of musicians-including Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and Thursday-who have teamed up with peta2 to inspire kids to challenge outdated, cruel attitudes about animals. Also featured on peta2.com are celebrity interviews, message boards, merchandise, downloadable voice-mail recordings, and chances to win great prizes like free concert tickets, iPods, and more.
