The Gauntlet: Cadaver

Cadaver Bio

Cadaver   Band Members

Apollyon - vocal/bass

Neddo - guitar

Balvaz - guitar

Czral - drums

Subgenres:

Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke founded cadaver in 1988. They signed a record deal with Earache Records in 1989, and released the very first death metal record from Norway ("Hallucinating anxiety") in 1990. The record sold over 10.000 copies, and is an underground classic. The second album "...In Pains" was released in 1992, sold over 25.000 copies, and everything was set for Cadaver to get a breakthrough. Cadaver was however put on ice in 1993. This was the year Norwegian black metal overshadowed everything else in Norwegian metal, and the band could not agree on where to go next. The original line-up was intended to get back together at one point in time, but this plan changed when Anders Odden (aka Neddo) found the drum wizard Czral and old friend Balvaz ready to join in 1999. Cadaver, Inc. was born, and frontman Apollyon known from Aura Noir, DHG etc. completed the new lineup in October 1999. They re-unit with Earache Records and the ultrabrutal album "Discipline" was released in april 2001. This album held material left by Cadaver in 1993, as well as new stuff. They toured heavily in 2001 supporting Morbid Angel and Extreme Noise Terror as well as doing shows in USA. The album sold over 10.000 copies, and established Cadaver yet again as Norways most brutal and sick band when they promoted the album as the cybershop CadaverInc.com where customers could buy alibi for murder. The whole "Murder Cleanup" went crazy, but took away the attention on the bands music. With "Nercosis" the band is yet again back as just CADAVER and this begin a new era for the veterans of the Norwegian metalscene!

Billy Joel was in a heavy metal band named Atilla where he played the organ. The group released one album in 1969. The cover of the group's lone album pictured Joel and drummer Jon Small, dressed as Huns, standing in a meat locker.
