Norway's White Willow released its first album in 1995. "Ignis Fatuus" became one of the landmarks of the so-called "Scandinavian revival" of progressive rock. Along with Landberk, Änglagård and Anekdoten, White Willow spearheaded a movement that would revitalize and inspire a whole new wave of progressive music. White Willow was already "one of the most significant progressive groups of the current era" according to Billboard's Guide to Progressive Music. Subsequent performances on major festivals in Europe and the US have helped affirm this position.

Ever restless, the group moved on from the pastoral romanticism of the first album to a darker, bleaker sound on 1998's experimental "Ex Tenebris", whereas 2000's "Sacrament" presented a polished, lush symphonic rock sound and became an instant favorite for many fans. By 2004 the group had moved on again, and presented the turbulent and intense concept album "Storm Season", that became the band's bestselling album and broached White Willow's sound to a much wider audience - fuelled by heavier guitars and tight arrangements.

Common to all of White Willow's albums is a keen attention to detail, a strong and distinct melodicism, a penchant for expansive arrangements and perhaps a streak of Nordic melancholy and recurring use of arcane instruments such as the Mellotron, analogue synths, flutes and strings.

White Willow has recently completed the recording of their 5th studio album, "Signal to Noise", which features their most focused songwriting and tightest performances to date. Producer Tommy Hansen has helped bring the band one step further in their fatuous search for the near-perfect art-rock album.
