Suffocation to shoot video

New York based extreme metal legends SUFFOCATION will film a video clip for the track "Cataclysmic Purification" this Sunday with director David Brodsky (ARSIS, GOD FORBID, KATAKLYSM, SWASHBUCKLE). When asked about the new track and their soon to be released 6th full-length album "Blood Oath," SUFFOCATION bassist Derek Boyer stated:

"'Cataclysmic Purification' audibly portrays a calamitous future approaching. With this song and the rest of the album I think we've maintained the musical integrity of the band while still having comprehendible brutality. 'Blood Oath' combines straight forward crushing movements with unsuspecting twists that will certainly entertain everyone from the avid SUFFOCATION listener to the 1st time innocent bystanders."

SUFFOCATION recently have uploaded "Cataclysmic Purification" to their Myspace page. The track is taken from their forthcoming Nuclear Blast Records debut entitled "Blood Oath," set for release on July 14 (North America). This will mark SUFFOCATION's 20th anniversary as a band and as one of metals most important and innovative artists.

"Blood Oath" will be available in three exclusive formats to the North American territory which include bonus materials. In addition to the standard retail version, there will be a mail-order eddition available exclusively through the Nuclear Blast US web store, and a digital version through iTunes.

SUFFOCATION entered the studio on January 31 with Joe Cincotta (who worked on the band's last two releases) to begin recording "Blood Oath". The follow-up to 2006's self-titled record was mixed by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH) and cover artwork (attached) was once again brought to life by Jon Zig (DEEDS OF FLESH, DISGORGE, GORGASM).
