Metalachi – The World’s First And Only Heavy Metal Mariachi Band returns to headline The Viper Room on Saturday August 4th.
Metalachi is a musical/comedy stage show that seamlessly blends the worlds of Spinal Tap and Cheech & Chong into an all-out stage spectacle for the eyes and ears. Metalachi has been performing to sell out crowds throughout the U.S. and internationally for over two years and have already built a devoted and diverse fan base throughout the world.
Metalachi gained critical acclaim when the group was hired to perform at internationally renowned artist Shepard Fairy’s private art show where the group entertained the likes of Billy Idol, Dave Navarro and Owen Wilson. Other accolades include numerous television and radio appearances throughout the U.S. and abroad as well as headlining the official after party for the 2011 Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles as well as a recent appearance at the 2012 South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin TX. Their annual sold-out Cinco De Mayo show at the legendary Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip is quickly becoming a Los Angeles institution every May 5th.
Metalachi was recently voted one of the best live shows in Southern California by Examiner.com (#2 Ranking) and had the honor of opening up for heavy metal royalty Testament, Jackyl and Vinnie Moore (of UFO fame) at the recent NAMM convention in Anaheim CA. They appeared at the 2012 convention on behalf of their artist endorsement by Coffin Case (www.coffincase.com) and Dean Guitar (www.deanguitars.com). Just recently they were the invited entertainment for heavy metal mainstays such as Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax and Motorhead at the 2012 Rockstar Mayhem Festival kick-off party.
The group is a 5-piece ensemble of classically trained mariachi musician brothers, that have been fused together with the power of hard rock. Taking their cues from outrageous stage shows like KISS, Gwar and Rob Zombie, Metalachi has outrageous costumes, personas and onstage antics. The band features Vega De La Rockha on vocals, Maximilian “Dirty” Sanchez on violin, Poncho Rockafeller on guitarron, Ramon Holiday on guitar, El Cucuy on trumpet and is managed by mysterious impresario Warren Moscow.
Fans can expect an amazing mix of metal classics and mashups/medleys including Judas Priest’s “Breaking The Law”, Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and an amazing mashup of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets/Nothing Else Matters/Scorpions -Wind of Change”...all played with traditional mariachi instrumentation.
Doors open at 7:30pm. Metalachi takes the stage at midnight. This is a 21 and over show. Tickets are $15 at the door or advance tickets can also be purchased via the Viper Room website (www.viperroom.com). The Viper Room is located at 8852 West Sunset Boulevard West Hollywood, CA 90069
