SVENGAHLI: Baltimore-based Prog-Death Project (Exist, Wormhole members) To Release Nightmares Of Our Own Design EP on 3/6

Svengahli Emerging progressive death metal project Svengahli is proud to announce the upcoming release of their debut effort, Nightmares Of Our Own Design. The EP will see release on Friday, March 6th. Born from the mind of Exist (Prosthetic Records) bassist Alex Weber, Svengahli aims to chart a unique course between all that progressive death metal and eccentric progressive metal has to offer and combine together.

Alex Weber comments on the origins of the material on Nightmares Of Our Design: "I had written these tunes with potentially using them for Exist in mind but they ended up turning out slightly different than what we've been musically doing. I had been considering starting my own project for quite some time but I didn't fully decide to start the project until about a year ago and didn't decide on the name until earlier this year. Some of the original ideas for these tunes came as earlier as 2015 but I didn't fully finish these tunes until a little less than a year ago."

Nightmares Of Our Own Design features stunning artwork from Will Shanklin who also created the art for 2019's WAIT - We Are In Transit EP (The Artisan Era). Vocals were engineered by Kenny Eaton at Mystery Ton Studios Monrovia, MD and the effort was Mixed and Mastered by renowned drummer and producer Anup Sastry.

Notable guest musicians such as Exist guitarist Matt Rossa, WAIT guitarist Charlie Eron, and drum programming help from Anup Sastray lend their considerable talents throughout Nightmares Of Our Design. In addition, high-profile guest guitar spots from Obscura guitarist Rafael Trujillo and Gorguts/Dysrhythmia guitarist Kevin Hufnagel add another unique addition to the material. As a still-developing project, Svengahli's future plans consist of a follow up full-length album, solidifying a larger line-up, and striving to turn the project into a live band as well.

Svengahli - Nightmares Of Our Own Design is strongly recommended for fans of groups that have inspired the project which includes Meshuggah, Gorguts, Death, Ihsahn, Olivier Messiaen, Scott Walker, Michael Formanek, Decapitated, Opeth, Elliott Smith, Portal, King Crimson, Bill Evans, The Beatles, The Claudia Quintet/John Hollenbeck, Thelonious Monk, and Tim Berne.

Svengahli Comments On The Release Of Nightmares Of Our Own Design
"I've always been interested in combining the harmonic language and the expression of the various forms of jazz, contemporary classical and improvised music into heavier and darker forms of metal because I've always seen a connection between them all. Classical music has obviously already had its influence on metal but there are many sides of jazz harmony that are just as dissonant and moody as a lot of metal AND the intensity that can be found in some forms of improvisation, to me, is even more powerful than most metal. These elements have absolutely had a huge impact in the shaping of the music on this EP."
