LUNACY - "My Favourite Dreams" second album of the post-punk / post-rock band
LUNACY is a duo from Belarus,
"My Favourite Dreams" is their second full-length album.
In the person of Stone we have a composer, while the female vocals are supplied by Morena.
Mostly building on a post-punk base, the duo doesn't stop at this.
The album starts with a calm, chilling pop-like sound with an innocent atmosphere,
just to turn then into gloomy dark rock in vein of 1999-era Katatonia with rasping vocals.
"The Road" and "Prophecy" sounds like Amesoeurs came back to life and wrote a few new songs,
upbeat with a post-punk foundation, dreamy acoustic guitars and charming female vocals.
"In the Light" and "Reflection" are more experimental, but never lacking catchiness.
A strong shoegaze influence here, but never as messy as shoegaze bands, more focused and
clean on isntrumentation.
A lot of subtle things on the avenue of Lunacy: dream pop, post-punk, shoegaze, depressive rock,
all combined in one absorbing delicious coctail.
The Belarus duo clearly have the skills, ability and know-how to write memomarable songs.
