Spopielony TO DROP EXPANDED EDITION OF LEGENDARY
FUNERAL TRANCE is proud to present an expanded and repackaged release of Legendy, from the venerable Polish project SPOPIELONY, to be released on professionally duplicated cassettes on July 26th.
SPOPIELONY have set themselves aside from the vast majority of synth projects - namely, the recent surge of "dungeon synth" - with the dreamy and melancholic spell otherwise titled Legendy. FUNERAL TRANCE was immediately pulled in upon first listen, and the label is proud to have its hand in transmitting what it believes should be a classic amongst its peers. Truly, Legendy is a masterwork of synth manipulation and atmosphere.
As the mysterious mainman explains, "SPOPIELONY is a project which has been brought to life as a result of my fascination of lo-fi aesthetics - when it comes to genres, dungeon synth is a primary one - and broadly defined hauntology. On grounds of its surrealistic, abstract atmosphere, I prefer to define my music as hypnagogic dungeon synth, inspired by obliterated gleams of consciousness and nostalgia - misty and very ambiguous music, sounding like from behind the wall or from under the water. On Legendy, I’m referring to a more ambient-oriented side - depressive silence, secret stairways, and essoupi. I was trying to get a real cassette-like sound, like one you can associate with damaged, used, and deteriorated VHS tapes. For example, 'легенда о...' was supposed to sound like a soundtrack from an old, obscure, and totally unknown Soviet fantasy film, played from next generations’ cassettes."
Continuing, the mastermind behind SPOPIELONY stresses, "Despite its 'dungeon' atmosphere, when it comes to the album’s body, it is not strictly connected with fantasy. There are a lot of cosmic and horror influences (space ambient, horror synth), onirism, metaphysics, poetry, and art; all of these, incorporated into the whole album, make a clear picture of what influence me the most. However, the core of it is connected with nostalgia and following fantasia."
Let the music speak for itself, and welcome the total rapture of nostalgic bliss that is SPOPIELONY's Legendy.
