During a conversation with Radio 95.9 "The Rat," Candice Night, wife of Ritchie Blackmore nine years ago, said her husband is willing to do some concerts with his former bandmates at Deep Purple before the band ends its activities.
"Honestly, from our perspective ... you'll probably read a lot of Ritchie's interviews in the past ... since he left Deep Purple. It will be hard to find some where he does not say something positive about (Ian) Gillan; he simply does not say anything about Ian in a negative context - he never spoke. From time to time someone or something comes up on the internet where some of the guys in the band say something negative about Ritchie and we're like, 'Why?'. There we go again. Because?'. I mean, this never comes from here. He (Ritchie) is way beyond that. Ritchie is always in the now, in the present. He lives his life and has no time for bullshit or whatever it is - gossip and rumors and all these things. But by now, I'd say things are cool for everyone - I'd like to make that clear. As far as I know, they are. "
Recently there came the information that Ritchie would have said he would do one last show with Deep Purple"for nostalgic reasons". He also suggested that the band's manager had prevented him from joining them at the 2016 Rock Hall of Fame ceremony, and he would have used it as an excuse not to attend. "I think he said he said ... for a few years, he said he'd be willing to take the stage for a series of shows with Purple, he said he would have no problem with that," says Candice, who talks about what happened in Hall Fame: "It was a delicate situation ... I think there were a lot of facts that contributed to what happened. One was that the Hall of Fame took so long (to induce Deep Purple) that Jon (Lord) no longer And it's not like it's a new band, they've been on the road for a long time. It was one of the first bands to incorporate classic elements ... I mean, listen to the classic riffs and the progressions of 'Highway Star'. They created a genre of their own, they were fantastic. It's not a new band you're discovering now and it says, 'Oh, let's pay attention to them.' These guys are a force to be recognized and have been on the road for decades. So take this time Jon and I left, and I think this is what went through Ritchie's head, he was a founding member along with Jon - they were the two who started it all. So I think it was like the feel of a knife in his chest to see what happened to Jon. " It's not a new band you're discovering now and it says, 'Oh, let's pay attention to them.'
