ARKAIK Debuts Video For "Futile State" Through Metal Injection
Advancing the September release of ARKAIK's anxiously-awaited fifth full-length Nemethia, the brutal tech-death metal outfit has released an official video for the record's "Futile State" through an exclusive premiere at Metal Injection.
A continuation on the conceptual saga of ARKAIK's two previous releases, on Nemethia the journey of Cyrix expands into new landscapes, as does the band's technical prowess and creativity. ARKAIK has been hard at work creating a series of wildly psychedelic concept albums revolving around a protagonist named Cyrix, a disillusioned character in a dystopian society. Cyrix' latest journey introduces new characters and brings you into a world of dark occultists, magical allies, and hidden forces. From resurrecting ancient goddesses to cracking the codes of reality and activating hyper dimensional stargates, the chronicle of Cyrix continues.
Produced and directed by Nikko DeLuna, with effects by Trevor "No One" Turner and makeup by Sherra Dixon and Jenn Jones, the new "Futile State" video visually delivers some of the album's sci-fi influence.
ARKAIK vocalist Jared Christianson issues of the "Futile State" visual accompaniment, "The song is about the feeling of existential futility and the catharsis it can create. The video is a blend of ideas. I took inspiration from Plato's Allegory Of The Cave, mixed with neo-shamanism and put a transhumanist spin on it. Nikko DeLuna is great at taking my ideas and bringing them to life. It was a pleasure to work with him again, and the rest of our team. Enjoy!"
Metal Injection debuts the new video, noting, "The song itself kicks off with a deathly groove peppered with audible elastic bass guitar lines, quickly spiraling towards an overload of killer lead guitar work, paired with an endless array of back and forth growls and screams, and made complete by an onslaught of maniacal and spidery rhythm riffs and machine-like drumming. To call 'Futile State' a pummeling effort would be an understatement, this is a war zone and your ears will either embrace its rage or become overwhelmed amidst the chaos within it. I love the push and pull dynamic at work here between groove and shred that 'Futile State' expertly exploits and finds comfort in."
