Kerry King Says He’s “Definitely Open” to Gary Holt Contributing to Songwriting
Slayer shredder Kerry King has stated that he’s “definitely open” to having Gary Holt contribute to the band’s songwriting process on the next album.
"It's a possibility, for sure," King said in an interview with Brazil's Wikimetal. "We haven't really talked about that. I mean, the ideas have come up, but then I know Gary's still full-heartedly into making EXODUS records. I think if the opportunity arises, I'm definitely open to it, but I also understand that we've got a band to write music for as well. So I'm not against it. It's just something that we haven't come to that bridge yet."
Holt, who is still a member of Exodus, has been Slayer’s touring guitarist since 2011 when Jeff Hanneman passed away after contracting a flesh-eating disease from a spider bite in his backyard.
The condition required Hanneman to undergo numerous surgeries and skin grafts, which forced him into semi-retirement; Hanneman passed away in 2013 from liver failure.
