Entombed Clandestine Live
Two weeks ago, ENTOMBED announced their second PledgeMusic campaign. Since launch, fans worldwide have come to be a part of the band’s special dual performance scheduled at Malmo Live on November 12. Guitarist Alex Hellid created a stunning video to celebrate the initial announcement. Today a brand new video has been posted; check it out exclusively HERE. The time-lapse clip shows Alex creating handwritten liners notes for Pledger Alexey C.
The handwritten lyric is just one of a number of unique items that are available as part of the campaign. A few days ago, a tshirt design (featuring brand new artwork from artist Dan Seagrave) was revealed that will be exclusively available to Pledgers. And there are more items still to come!
The Malmo Live event reunites original members Alex Hellid (guitar), Uffe Cederlund (guitar), and Nicke Andersson (drums) for a full rendition of their groundbreaking 1991 album Clandestine. A number of unique and rare items are available in addition to exclusive apparel and a stunning full HD 5.1 sound cd/dvd digibook of the historic performance. The show will follow the band’s headline appearance at Close-Up Magazine’s now sold-out Baten Cruise leaving Stockholm on board M/S Silija Galaxy on October 27.
Clandestine was recorded at Stockholm’s Sunlight Studios. Produced by Tomas Skogsberg, it is considered a genre milestone. AllMusic credits it for “setting the stage for successive generations of death-rooted Scandinavian metal bands.” The band’s infamous buzzsaw guitar riffs and varied tempos quickly catapult them to the forefront of the then exploding global scene. Hellid says, “Clandestine is a complex beast. Revisiting it 25 years later is definitely something special.” Cederlund adds, “it’s one of those albums that you hear something new every time you listen to it. I like albums like that.”
Decibel Magazine will induct the album into its Hall Of Fame series in their December issue (on newsstands early November). Editor Albert Mudrian says Clandestine is, “one of the greatest death metal records – Swedish, or otherwise – of all time.”
