Per Capita Metal Production by US State

USmetal This study is flawed a bit, as all studies are. It is intended to illustrate a trend and their are few surprises.

I expected more from the rust belt. The Pacific coast is no surprise, although I would have expected the epicenter to be LA and not Seattle.

The Midwest is going through a metal renaissance as I write this but data is not available yet.

Some may be surprised by Wisconsin, particularly Milwaukee. This did not come as a surprise to me as I spent my younger years road tripping to the cheese belt to see metal bands.

The Wisconsin Metallers are a hearty bunch of persistent and tenacious bands.

I remember one experience I had that illustrates.

A friend of mine and myself drove to Chippewa Falls to see a band. When we arrived we loaded into the bus (typical old school bus) to travel to the actual destination for the show. I soon learned that the show would be in a very remote location in heavily forested area miles from any paved or even gravel roads. The bus navigated through a dirt "road" that, I swear a Panzer tank couldn't travel. Eventually we arrived and the Band began the load out which included several high amp generators for power, A giant 32 channel board, heads, speakers, monitors. It was unreal. But I knew no one would show up. How could they even find us?

Well show up they did, and in droves. 100's of fans who all or most anyway, stayed the night in their cars.

Since we were in the very place where Leinenkugals was brewed, kegs of it were enjoyed by all. Now that is the true spirit of Metal.

So when Static X released Wisconsin Death Trip, I had to have it immediately.
