Les Descrets EP foreshadows LP to come

Led Descrets The new 4-track EP, 'Virée Nocturne', by blackgaze band LES DESCRETS was first made available to atendees of last month's Prophecy Fest 2016. The EP foreshadows the French post-music group's third album, 'Prédateurs', which is due to drop in early 2017.

Fursy Teyssier, known through his work with Alcest and Amesoeurs, is a musician and visual artist. He founded LES DESCRETS (Engl. for "Those who keep silent") in 2003. Four years after the band's last studio effort, 'Ariettes Oubliées', Teyssier departs from his blend of atmospheric metal and post rock -- influenced by such artists as Agalloch, Anathema or early Ulver -- and returns with a reinvention of LES DESCRETS' sound. Drawing inspiration from acts like Portishead, Massive Attack, Lana Del Rey, Pink Floyd or Blonde Redhead, Teyssier keeps his musical core with a calmer version of LES DESCRETS, while deftly maintaining the band's inherent melancholy and melodics.

'Virée Nocturne' is not only a new start in terms of music for the band, but also presents a change on the visual level. For the first time, Teyssier has collaborated with an outside graphic designer on the visual appearance of a LES DESCRETS release. The British artist Chris Friel, who combines painting with photography in a unique way, has become a huge inspiration for Teyssier. Friel's work has even subconciously leaked into the roadmap of the band's music.

Besides the title track, which will also be featured on the impending full-length, 'Prédateurs', the EP features the exclusive song "Capricorni. Virginis. Corvi", a demo version of another new song, "Le Reproche", and a remix of "Virée Noturne" by progressive hip hop artist Dälek.

Tracklist:

1. Virée Nocturne
2. Capricorni.Virginis.Corvi
3. Le Reproche (demo version)
4. Virée Nocturne (Dälek / Deadverse Remix)

Teyssier outlines the concept of his band like this: "The project's concept is pervaded by the perception of nature as well as my existential questions, especially about the feelings of love and death, as I always found a parallel between nature and human life and love." Teyssier's artistic expression doesn't stop there, though. LES DESCRETS releases come across as total works of art comprised of lyrics, music, images, and even movies. Every single one of these facets reveals more details of the realm of the "Discrets" and invites the listeners to delve ever deeper into this world.
