Satanic Temple Leader Charged In 'Pink Mass' Incident At Gravesite

Lucien Greaves, the leader of the New York Satanic Temple at the center of the 'pink mass' protest against the Westboro Baptist Church, has been charged with grave desecration. The Gauntlet broke the story last week and has now learned that Meridian Police Capt. Dean Harper has charged Greaves with a misdemeanor charge stemming from the July 14 incident.

Charges of indecent exposure and malious mischief had been sought against multiple individuals in the group but a judge wouldn't sign off on a warrant.

With this misdemeanor warrant, Greaves can only be arrested if he returns to Lauderdale County, MS. The charge carries no jail time and a fine of around $500.

The group held a pink mass in mid-July in which they wed gay and lesbian couples on the gravesite of Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred Phelp's mother. No charges were filed for that so hopefully the pink masses will continue. Greaves is being charged for later tea-bagging the tombstone.
