Varg Vikernes Arrested In France For Planning 'Massacre'
Norwegian Kristian Vikernes, aka "Varg" was arrested Tuesday morning at his farm/home in Salon-la Tour by the Central Directorate of Interior Intelligence (DCRI).
A search of Vikernes' farm for weapons and explosives is currently underway. His wife, a French national and a member of a shooting club, recently legally purchased four rifles.
Vikernes was one of 530 people to have received the manifesto of Anders Breivik, the perpetrator of the massacre in Oslo in July 2011 that left 77 dead. Police were alerted to the singer's activity after he revealed that Breivik sent a copy of a manifesto setting out his ideology to Vikernes. "That was at the origin of the investigation... There were several suspicions that made the services fear he could possibly carry out a violent act," a police spokesperson said.
On his website, Vikernes discusses Breivik's manifesto, but also criticises him for killing innocent Norwegians.
Currently in France, they are trying to get rid of a lot of the far-right leaning people. As Varg has been public about his political and social beliefs via his writings, he may no longer be welcome in France. He recently wrote "The final solution to this problem is not to kill anyone, but to raise our children with European ideals and values, and a European world view, and make sure that Christianity dies out when our coward parent generation dies out."
