Motorhead Set Cut Short Due To Lemmy's Health

Motorhead cut it's set short at Wacken Open Air by 45 minutes today. The band was the Friday headliner and after six songs, Lemmy Kilmister was ushered off the stage.

Bill Peters, head of Auburn Records, was in attendance during MOTÖRHEAD's set and stated that "[Lemmy] did not look or sound good at all and could not continue the set.

"Phil Campbell did a guitar solo before 'The Chase Is Better Than The Catch' while Lemmy left the stage. The solo ended but Lemmy did not return. There was eerie silence on the stage for several minutes. Lemmy came back to play one more song (my favorite MOTÖRHEAD song) but left the stage immediately after it ended. Wacken festival organizer Thomas Jensen came onstage and announced to the crowd he did not know what to do or say about a situation like this. It seemed very serious to me. Hopefully I am wrong."

Wacken organizer Thomas Jensen walked on stage and told the crowd "Lemmy had cancelled all his dates and tried to do Wacken, but this is all he could do."

Motörhead were scheduled to perform for an hour and fifteen minutes. After Jensen's announcement the crowd starting chanting "Lemmy, Lemmy, Lemmy."

The crowd was not upset or disappointed, but concerned for one of the godfathers of heavy metal.
