Tommy Lee Threatened With Lawsuit Over Drum Rollercoaster
TMZ is reporting that Tommy Lee STOLE the idea behind his looping rollercoaster drum solo. According to an engineer from L.A., who claims he pitched the idea for the concert stunt back in 1991, and Lee ripped him off.
The engineer, Scott King, fired off a legal letter to Motley Crue's lawyers recently, claiming Lee turned down his pitch 20 years ago.
The only problem with the accusation is that Tommy Lee didn't steal the idea from Scott King, he stole it from the band Whitehorse. One year ago yesterday, The Gauntlet wrote an article on where Tommy Lee really got the idea for the drum rollercoaster. Lee at the time claimed it came to him in a dream. But as we later found out, it really came to him from the 70' band Whitehorse out of Long Beach, CA and done by drummer Jack Valentine. How would Lee find out about Whitehorse and their drum rollercoaster? Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars was the guitarist for Whitehorse in the 70's when they did the drum rollercoaster.
