Australian Death Metal Band Gets $20,000 Government Grant

Ouroboros The Music Council in Australia has selected the technical death metal band Ouroboros to receive a government grant for the arts. The council stated "they have a degree of technical virtuosity and musicianship. No matter what kind of music you are involved in, that comes through."

The band is obviously happy with the decision and stated to the local news paper The Australian, "This is amazing for us; we couldn’t consider hiring an orchestra to do this without this kind of support."

But as you can imagine, not everyone is thrilled with the decision. Local radio blowhard Neil Mitchell has slammed the Australia Council for the Arts decision to grant Sydney Death Metal band Ouroboros $20,000 to go towards the writing and recording of their new album. Mitchell and callers have been mocking the band for sounding like cookie monster and depleting tax-payer funds.
