Thief Shoves John Petrucci Guitar Down Pants, Walks Out Store

Tell me if you've heard this one before: Two men walk into a guitar store and one of them proceeds to shove a guitar down his pants. That is apparently what happened recently at a Spencer's Music Music store in Olathe, MO. The theft occurred about 2:30 p.m. April 12 at Spencer's Music Store, 1717 S. Mur-Len Road.

The two men entered the store, and surveillance photos show that as one man distracted an employee, the other grabbed a guitar and shoved it down his pants. The two men then left the store.

Two guitars were reported missing, a John Petrucci valued at $2,900 and a Ibanez Sv5470 valued at $2,100.

The first suspect was described as a black male with medium complexion, short hair and medium build. He is in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing blue jeans, a black and white jacket with skulls all over it, a yellow shirt with some type of print on the front and dark tennis shoes with white trim near the sole.

The second suspect was described as a black male with medium complexion and medium build. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a gray hooded jacket, a dark gray hooded-shirt, a white T-shirt, dark jeans/pants and dark tennis shoes with white trim near the sole.

"We have reason to believe they are involved in similar thefts in other cities in the Midwest," Allen said. "We are working with other agencies to see if they have had crimes with similar patterns."
