METALACHI Returns To The Sunset Strip For Cinco De Mayo

Metalachi Metalachi – The World’s First And Only Heavy Metal Mariachi Band returns to headline The Roxy Theatre for Cinco De Mayo 2012 on Saturday May 5th in West Hollywood for the second consecutive year.

Metalachi is a musical/comedy stage show that seamlessly blends the worlds of Spinal Tap and Cheech & Chong into an all-out stage spectacle for the eyes and ears. Metalachi has been performing to sell out crowds throughout the U.S. and internationally for over two years and have already built a devoted and diverse fan base throughout the world.

Metalachi gained critical acclaim when the group was hired to perform at internationally renowned artist Shepard Fairy’s private art show where the group entertained the likes of Billy Idol, Dave Navarro and Owen Wilson. Other accolades include numerous television and radio appearances throughout the U.S. and abroad as well as headlining the official after party for the 2011 Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles as well as a recent appearance at the 2012 South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin TX.

Metalachi was recently voted one of the best live shows in Southern California by Examiner.com (#2 Ranking) and had the honor of opening up for heavy metal royalty Testament, Jackyl and Vinnie Moore (of UFO fame) at the recent NAMM convention in Anaheim CA. They appeared at the 2012 convention on behalf of their artist endorsement by Coffin Case (www.coffincase.com) and Dean Guitar (www.deanguitars.com)

The group is a 5-piece ensemble of classically trained mariachi musician brothers, that have been fused together with the power of hard rock. Taking their cues from outrageous stage shows like KISS, Gwar and Rob Zombie, Metalachi has outrageous costumes, personas and onstage antics. The band features Vega De La Rockha on vocals, Maximilian “Dirty” Sanchez on violin, Poncho Rockafeller on guitarron, Ramon Holiday on guitar, El Cucuy on trumpet and is managed by mysterious impresario Warren Moscow.

Fans can expect an amazing mix of metal classics and mashups/medleys including Judas Priest’s “Breaking The Law”, Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and an amazing mashup of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets/Nothing Else Matters/Scorpions -Wind of Change”...all played with traditional mariachi instrumentation. The May 5th event is presented by Dos Equis and Tecate as well as local gourmet food trucks Baby’s Badass Burgers (www.babysbadassburgers.com) and The Calbi Truck (www.calbi.com), which will both be serving up their own delicious creations outside the Roxy the night of May 5th.

Doors open at 8pm. Metalachi will be supported by beat box phenom Vincent Bantasan, Monster Truck, Peelander-Z and The Kyle Gass Band (of Tenacious D fame) with a special intermission performance by the Frisky Honey dance troupe.
