What's Fenriz Listening To?
Darkthrone's Fenriz, keeper of all things underground, has emailed The Gauntlet a list of some bands and songs we should check out along with some of his musings on each.
LANDSLIDE, demo # 2, 1985 SWEDEN (free free free, the sound of real speed/heavy metal)

MAGNESIUM, single 2006 JAPAN (free free free, the sound of HEAVY METAL with lots of soul)

THE BYRDS, "Bad Night at the Whiskey" LATE 60s (forgotten track from forgotten album, choir so primitive and enormous that i want to make an 8 hour documentary on just that choir effect. Reminds of Hammerheart-era bathory).
NITE JEWEL fact mix (yacht rock to a new level with the DJ singing along in lo fi sound to SOME of the tracks, especially the Steely Dan tracks. SCREW the haters!!! It's funny to look at the comments on the morons who think it's "BADLY MIXED", that music was never meant to be beatmixed in the first place. Idiots. (Sounding like Napoleon Dynamite here). But the tracks are actually very nicely mixed together after all, so the haters are DOUBLE-wrong this time! Pathetic.
BLASPHEME (France 1984) vengeance barbar (free free lovely sounding forgotten heavy metal that Salsten of DEATHHAMMER played for me at his place before I was gonna DJ old house etc at Revolver a coupla months ago. I immediately desecrated the track title to "Vengeance BABAR", good mental picture seeing that nice cartoon elephant on a vengeance spree.
