Special Thanks For Our MEGADETH Fun Yesterday
Yesterday was April Fool's Day and like every April 1st, we had fun at a bands expense. Based on a lot of the emails and forum chatter, we did a pretty good job with it this year. But I must give credit where credit is due.
This years April Fool's joke began in mid-November. It was the 25th anniversary of one of my favorite thrash albums, Megadeth's "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" Typically a band in Megadeth's position would do something to commemorate the album like performing the album in its entirety on tour. Unfortunately for fans, this will never happen as long as Mustaine and Ellefson are born-again Christians. They seem to take issue with the classic tracks "Good Mourning/Black Friday" and "The Conjouring."
I went ahead and re-wrote the lyrics for the song "Good Mourning/Black Friday" and changed the theme of Mustaine being a demonic killer to walking hand in hand with Jesus converting the heathens. From here, we needed a band to record the song. This is where I owe a ton of gratitude. The Megadeth tribute band VORTEX really stepped up. They rehearsed the song and then recorded it so that we could have a pretty elaborate prank. Be sure to check these guys out http://www.megadeth.hu/.
You can check out the April Fool's joke at this location. Until next year.
