Inchained Releases Long Awaited Christian Black metal EP, Seeks to Destroy Christian Black metal tag
Inchained's long awaited EP, entitled Redeemer, will be available for download from most major distributors on March 31st. Inchained will also be offering 100 special edition CDs that will be available through www.inchained.com. All net proceeds from this album will be donated to a children's charity of the band's choosing. Lead vocalist and guitarist Will "Rebel Red Son" Shackleford said "to further our Christian mission the net proceeds from this album will be donated to charity, preferably a children's charity like UNICEF or ST. Jude's. We want nothing from this album, not a dime, so we are giving it away."
Inchained's release coincides with the release of another Black Station Productions project, the Black metal documentary entitled "Out of the Black-A Black metal Documentary", which is set to be released in the next few weeks.
The band also seeks to destroy the "Christian Black metal" tag to describe their music. Shackleford added "Yes, Inchained is a Black metalish, Black Thrash-like band but Christian Black metal we are not because Christian Black metal doesn't exist. Like all metal bands we do not like tags but for the sake of genre identification we prefer the tag Kingdom Metal and encourage all "Christian Black metal" bands to adopt the Kingdom Metal tag and abandon the Christian Black metal tag. We will not explain what Kingdom Metal means, Christians will know exactly what it means. But as far as the recording and production style, Inchained's EP does emulate the older Black metal style of production, it's raw and we like it that way. But the "Christian Black metal" tag must be buried once and for all, but the common alternatives like Holy Unblack metal and or white metal are simply lame, we hate those tags as well.
