RAMMSTEIN Show Review 10/10
This was my first time seeing Rammstein live and I was pretty pumped for it. I was kind of annoyed I couldn't queue all day like I wanted to. My friend and I arrived at the venue at around 6:20PM and doors had opened at 6:00PM. We still got awesome places near the front and then we just waited for Deathstars to start.
I wasn't impressed with Deathstars as they just seemed like Industrial Gothic Marilyn Manson worship, they didn’t really have much stage presence and overall seemed quite nervous to be playing an arena. I didn’t really get into their set though seeing as I had my earplugs in and was waiting for Rammstein to come on, Deathstars set seemed to last forever. When they finally left the techs whisked away all of their equipment and started setting up for Rammstein.
It was about 8:30PM when Rammstein finally came on. Their entrance was amazing, they had a bridge lowered down over the crowd and walk to the stage on it. First song was Sonne which contained little to no fire although their second song Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen (My personal favourite by them) was amazing, jets of fire came up from the floor of the stage and even from 10 rows back you could feel the heat of it, I can't imagine what it would be like for Rammstein or even people in the first row. The whole band were spot on in their playing and Till conjured a real energy in the crowd that really got us going.
After a few more songs it was Mein Teil which, when performed live involves Flake being chased around by Till who is dressed up as a butcher and ultimately ends with Flake being cooked in a huge pot with a flamethrower which is weilded by Till. 2-3 songs later it was Haifisch which is big on crowd participation as Flake crowdsurfs in a rubber dinghy for about 5 minutes before returning to the stage to conclude the song. Most of their set was finished now but they still had their 2 encores to play.
Encore #1 started with Bück Dich which was probably the best live song as they crawled across the bridge wearing collars with Christoph following them dressed as a woman, after playing Bück Dich they played Mann Gegen Mann and Ohne Dich which concluded their first encore after which they again crossed the bridge to the stage to set up their second encore.
Encore #2 was kicked off with Mein Herz Brennt which was followed by Amerika, a well known single that everybody in the crowd knew after that it was Ich Will another hit single and following that it was Engel from their Sehnsucht album. For the live performance Till dons a pair of metallic angel wings which as the song goes on are set alight. Their last song was Pussy which is a single from their 2009 album Liebe ist Für Alle Da. It was a very fun ending to a very epic concert as Till controls a huge penis shaped cannon that squirts out fake cum (soap) across the crowd.
All in all it was the best gig I’ve ever been to and the stage show completely destroyed anything I've
ever seen before. I'd definitely give it a 10/10 for every aspect.
